Have you heard about the weight loss supplement Diet Fuel by TwinLab? TwinLab, who also makes other supplements and sports nutrition products, claims that Diet Fuel will boost energy levels and metabolism and help promote weight loss. Boost my energy level and promote weight loss? I’m in. So I decided to give it a try.
There are three main ingredients that are supposed to make a difference:
Forskohlii: Forkskohlii has traditionally been used for a variety of health benefits, however modern research suggests that it may help support weight management.
Green Tea Extract: Green Tea Extract helps boost energy and focus.
Chromium: Chromium is an essential trace mineral that helps you burn fat.
How does it work? You are supposed to take 1 capsule twice daily, 20-30 minutes before a meal. Easy right? Easy if you don’t take it right before dinner. There is caffeine in Diet Fuel, however the label doesn’t say how much. If you are sensitive to it, you may want to make sure you take the supplements before breakfast and lunch instead.
Does TwinLab Diet Fuel Really Work?
Kind of. I definitely saw a huge boost in a consistent energy level throughout the day. I didn’t feel like I was taking a energy boosting supplement – I didn’t experience any jitters or feeling like I couldn’t sit still.
I also wasn’t hungry, which is always a problem for me when I’m trying to lose weight. And while I didn’t feel hungry, it didn’t prevent me or make me not want to eat. When I did eat, I ate less, and didn’t crave junk food either (but that could be mind over matter, right?).
I didn’t see any substantial weigh loss, though. But for me, that is okay. I finally found something that gave me energy and kept me from feeling hungry. I consider that a win!
Would I continue to use it? Yes. Because this product is inexpensive and works well to keep me focused and motivated to lose weight. I think if I continue to take it on a regular basis, I will lose weight…not because of the product per say, but because I’m not shoveling junk food in my mouth all day long.
The only negative that came from using the product? I experience headaches a few hours after taking the second pill. I think it’s due to the caffeine. Now I’m not sensitive to caffeine at all normally; I could drink a cup of coffee and go to bed no problem. The headaches aren’t bad – just mildly achey – but it is worth mentioning.
After checking the label and online to find out just how much caffeine is in Diet Fuel, I wasn’t able to find the information. So I don’t know how much more caffeine than normal I’m putting into my body. I don’t normally have more than a cup of coffee a day and maybe a soda, so if there’s a ton of caffeine in Diet Fuel, that could be the reason for the headaches, but I can’t be sure. I do know that I don’t get the headaches when I don’t take the pills, so there has to be some correlation.
