Thanksgiving Recipes: Side Dishes, Leftovers, And Of Course Desserts

I love Thanksgiving…everything about it. Being with family, the feeling of being so thankful about all the good in my life, the memories from when I was a kid, and of course, the food.

There are two things that always appear on our table, and one casserole I look forward to making with the leftovers every year. I’m going to share them with you here and I guarantee you that if you try these recipes, people will ask for the recipes and you will make them over and over.

These are not recipes that are new to Mommy of a Monster, in fact, I’ve shared them all before. So I’m going to send you to the recipes just so you don’t have to read three recipes that you don’t want to read here in this post.

Jalapeno Creamed Corn

jalapeno_creamed_corn This Jalapeno Creamed Corn recipe is A-MAZ-ING and we eat it at almost every big family gathering we have. Don’t be frightened away by the jalapenos; you de-seed them all first so they just add a bit of zip, not heat. This recipe was even featured on BlogHer last year!

Mock Mashed Potatoes

They look like mashed potatoes and taste like mashed potatoes, but they aren’t potatoes! It’s a great mock mashed potatoes recipe made with cauliflower. It’s yummy. Check it out.

Upside Down Pumpkin Cake

Yep, Thanksgiving is not complete without pumpkin pie…or is it? This Upside Down Pumpkin Cake recipe is my claim to fame and a recipe I don’t give out very often. Make this cake and people will be begging for the recipe, they’ll ask you to bring it again next year, and they’ll think you spent all day baking when really you just dump a bunch of stuff in a pan!

Tastes Like Thanksgiving Casserole

turkey_casserole_recipe What to do with all of those leftovers? I’ve gotcha covered! I love making this Tastes Like Thanksgiving Casserole after the holiday, but also throughout the winter because it’s the ultimate comfort food!

What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving recipes? I’d love to check them out!

  2. […] I absolutely LOVE Thanksgiving. It is hands down my favorite holiday. I have written about it every year since I started my blog: the first year I shared about a meal I loved (Thanksgiving, of course), I’ve written about the things I am thankful for, I wrote about Doris Lee’s Thanksgiving painting that makes me want to step right into it, and last year I wrote what I was thankful for every day for a month. And of course, I have shared lots of Thanksgiving recipes. […]
