Tater’s Big Week

Tater had a really big week over the past week! Not only did he get to go to Disneyland for the first time, he hit a couple of big milestones: he learned to swim (well, doggy paddle with floaties on, but still…) and he doesn’t wear diapers during the day anymore! So does that mean he’s potty trained? He still wears a diaper to bed at night, but he’s even been waking up dry.

I am SO proud of my boy! He is going to be three in August, and I can’t believe how much he’s turning into a “little boy” and how much he’s grown…physically, emotionally, and intellectually.

You Know You’re a Mom When….
You feel so much pride in your child, and you understand that that kind of pride can’t possibly be considered a sin.

You watch your child jump from the side and into the pool, and are more afraid of him growing up than of jumping in the pool by himself.

You can’t believe the feeling that the weight of the world was lifted off your shoulders once potty training was finally completed.

You have just as much fun (or more!) as your kid(s) when introducing them to something new (like Disneyland or swimming).

You finally realize that being a mom means that you’ll be able to re-live your childhood and share the things you loved about it with your kids.

This is for Wordless/Wordful Wednesday…Check out some other fantastic posts below, or visit any of these blogs to link up!

This post also represents my favorite meme…You Know You’re a Mom When-sDaze by Arizona Mamma!

And so it goes…

  1. congratulations! well done kiddo!
  2. Double-score on the WW and Know You're a Mom!! I agree about the potty training....felt like a huge weight was lifted, and it's NOT something you have much control over at all! Pretty much up to them to accomplish...with any treats, praise, and clapping we are willing to give them!

    Cute pic with the floaties....
  3. So happy for you that you have a little guy who is not afraid of water. But those milestones can sure be tough as you watch them grow up before your eyes. Thanks so much for linkin up!

  15. Oh Natalie, I loved that! That is awesome he is potty trained...Hank missed out on a spring break trip to Disneyland (he doesn't know this of course) cause there is no way I was going to deal with diaperering a 3 year old on top of all the other stress of travelling with 3 kiddos. He finally has it too, but that kid was stubbron!
  16. Funky Mama Bird says:
Wow; that is a big week! Go Tater!

  21. Hooray for swimming! It looks so refreshing and fun!
  22. Aging Mommy says:
He is doing great with his swimming and I am so pleased for you that he is now dry in the day. If he consistently stays dry at night or insists as my daughter did even with a diaper on that she use the potty if needed and not her diaper for a few weeks then he should be ready for no diapers at night too! Well done Tater! I know you must be relieved to have one child out of diapers!
  23. Maureen says:
YAY Tater! Looks like a fun time in the pool :D
  24. Yeah! Congrats little guy!
  25. My daughter learned to swim this summer as well. She just ditched the floaties one day and took off. Now she is doing flips under water already.
  26. Claudia says:

There's nothing like that first time in the restaurant when you can send the little darlings to the bathroom on their own and they come back with all their clothes on right!... and, then, it's on to the prom!... congrats on new milestones...

A BIG Yippee ki-yay for Tater! It is amazing to watch as our little ones grow into the men and women they will eventually become.
  31. The Drama Mama says:
Yay!! Way to go! These are fantastic milestones!

I agree with you on all your points too.
  32. Yay for the day when your child is potty trained. I'm working on my last child. After him, we're done with diapers! And I like what you said about reliving your childhood with your children. Now that I'm back home where I grew up, I find that so true! It's amazing!
  33. Watching your children grow ad learn new things is the best part of being a mom. We have 3 grown children and a 6 yr. old son. It is funny how with little man I enjoy some of the smallest things. I guess I was to young to enjoy all the tiny things with my older 3, but they were alot of fun to watch also. Be sure to cherish every moment as soon they grown up to be parents themselves. I would love for you to come by and read my WW post at http://traci66.blogspot.com/2010/07/wordful-wednesday.html
    Have a Wonderful Wednesday.
  34. The Sharp's says:
Such a big boy! Good luck on the potty training success! What great milestones! I cheered for Waylon last night. 21 months today, he asked to poot (poop) on the potty last night and actually came and got me off of the chair. He tried, but just couldn't. I can't believe he has even gotten to this point so early, but he has his big brother to thank, or I do! Maybe we will have this new baby when Waylon is out of diapers! Here's to hopin!
  35. Shannon says:
Totally looking forward to reliving many childhood moments with GG.
  36. Good job, little man!
  37. Gringation Cancun says:

    Yay, Natalie!

Potty training boot camp is scheduled for Labor Day Weekend. Fingers crossed.
  39. Mama Penguin says:
Oy' I envy you right now, my oldest is turning 3 this Sept, and although he knows what the potty is, and when he needs to go, he refuses to use the potty :(
  40. Aww..so proud of the little Tater!! Way to go on the potty training. So glad you guys had such a great trip!! But I'm glad to see you back.
  41. Organic Motherhood with Cool Whip says:
I'm so jealous that you are done potty training! Way to go Tater! Diego is already three and looks at me like I am an insane person when I casually suggest he might use the potty at some future point in his life....
  42. YAHOOO TATER! What a GREAT WEEK!!! And what great "you know your a Mom"'s!!!! You always make me smile, Natalie! Love it!
  43. Mrs.Mayhem says:
Isn't it such a huge RELIEF to have him out of diapers during the day?? That calls for a celebration!
  44. I just recently found your blog. I really enjoy reading your older post as well. Any advice on potty training. My daughter is 2 1/2 and would love to start her on it.
  45. Lori @ In Pursuit of Martha Points says:
Now I miss Disneyland. I want to go again! I love Disneyland!

My kids, now teenagers, not so excited.

  46. Yes! That definitely means he is potty trained. Yay Tater! And I would say if he continues to wake up dry for the next couple of weeks you can lose the diapers at night too. I know what a great feeling it is to have one kid totally out of diapers, so congrats to you!
  47. I love the picture! I so no how you feel about being afraid of them growing up! Your list was so true!
  48. Megan (Best of Fates) says:
Potty training AND swimming - that boy's going crazy!

    Next up: college.
  49. Wonderful milestones... little Tater is becoming a big boy!

We just signed LMW up for another five swim lessons. He LOVES the water.
