Tater Gets His Ant Farm

Me: Tater! Show me your ants that you just got in the mail! Smile!

Me: Um, okay let’s try another picture without the goofy face.Uh, not exactly what I had in mind.

Me: How about you just hold the tube up and I’ll take a picture of the ants? Ha! Tricked you and took a picture of you too. See? That’s a good picture and a nice little smile.

A picture of Tater making the first hole in the sand for us to put the ants in.

Tater watching his ants do their thing.

After 4 days of work, this is all that they have done. I just hope Tater doesn’t get tired of them and decide to set them free….those are some BIG ants!

This is for Wordless/Wordful Wednesday…Check out some other fantastic posts below, or visit any of these blogs to link up!

Woah!!! I seriously can't believe you let him get an ant farm!!! You brave woman!!
  2. I'm getting scared! Ahhh!! The memories! A few months ago we had an ant farm, too. My son knocked it over. Ants came streaming out. I started screaming & smushing & drowning them in the sink. How do you save crazed ants??? Crazed, gigantic ants??? It was awful. I thought the lid wasn't supposed to fly off. Sorry, ants. I'm sure you'll be a better mother me and something like that will never happen in your house. Ugh. Sorry for sharing... I'm glad Tater is happy about his ants! Had they not escaped, they WOULD have been fun to watch!
  3. He looks so proud! So cute. I love his hair.
  4. Yay! He got the farm! I told you those suckers were big! They will totally get to tunneling. It's pretty cool to watch. I hope Tater has fun with it - and we kept it out of the reach of toddler. Just saying.

Don't forget to feed and water them per the instructions!

Please tell me they still have Sea Monkeys! Lame or not... at least they wont escape.
  12. I think "ant farm" is on a list of things Mommy will probably not let me have - especially after reading these comments! Her skin is crawling a little bit...

Nice ant farm, too. The last one I saw had this weird gel stuff instead of sand. Gross.
  17. Ants! Totally freaks me out. I used to live in the south and due to the fire ants, we could not even enjoy our yard. So your pics today give me the heebee jeebies... but they did inspire a wordless Wed post of my own.

Its wordless, but definitely not quiet. Check it out here http://35daysamonth.blogspot.com/2011/02/oh-look-instant-party.html

you'll be sorry you did! =)

Hmm. I think I would enjoy an ant farm (I'm all sciency like that) and would gladly get one for Boo...If I was sure the ants woulds stay in the farm. We may wait on that a while.

Also? Tater really looks like you!

I'm with Poppy: I want to know the story behind the beads.
  23. Oh man, you've just taken me back to my son's ant farm, which was sprawled all over my kitchen counter!! Ugh. I thought it was cool in the beginning, until they started dying and they set up their own little funeral home and burial ground.

    Interesting, but morbid.

    Enjoy!
  24. OMG, he could NOT be more YOU!

And times like this make me happy I don't have a boy. No ant farms for me!
  25. You could have came to my house in the summer and collected our live in ants. Yup all of em could have been taters for free...you just had to catch them.
  26. Bella @ If This is Motherhood says:
They are some big ants! I really have to get The Professor one of these!
  27. Poppy's comment made me laugh out loud, first off.

Anyway, I have to tell you that I am soooo itchy after reading this. And so glad my brothers never wanted an ant farm. Ick!! You're a brave soul.
