How Many Calories In Wine? Don’t Worry – Caloric Cuvée Has You Covered!

Disclosure: Thanks to Caloric Cuvée for sending me a calorie-counting wine glass to help me see how many calories in wine I’m drinking! All opinions expressed are my own.

Since starting my diet and exercise plans back in March, the amount of wine I drink has decreased significantly, but my love for it has not. I rarely drink it during the week anymore, but when I do, I’m counting calories and trying to figure out how many calories in wine there are. I pull out my measuring cup, and sadly drink it out of a plastic wine glass (because kids love to knock over my expensive, preferred wine glasses.) And then I received a Caloric Cuvée wine glass and my wine drinking evenings are much more cheerful!

How Many Calories in Wine?

How many calories in wine? I don’t know off the top of my head, and now I don’t have to Google it every time I want a glass of wine. The Caloric Cuvée wine glasses do it for me.

how_many_calories_in_wineNow left to my own heavy hand, the glass of wine I’d pour would tend to be probably twice as many calories as I should. But with my Caloric Cuvée wine glass, I get to decide just how much (or how little!) I’m willing to indulge.

I love that you can clearly see how many calories per pour you are getting. And yes, there have been a couple of times that I may or may not have poured all the way up to the Who Cares line.

I think I am also less likely to pour myself a second glass once I see just how many calories I’m ingesting. For those of us watching what we are eating and drinking, this glass is a huge help!

This glass is also a great conversation starter – hold it at a party and I guarantee every woman there will want one! But the glass pictured here isn’t the only one available at Caloric Cuvée…there are many a variety of styles to choose from. Whether you want a glass with a stem, stemless, or even a beer stein, there’s a variety of glasses available when you shop Caloric Cuvée.

Maybe you aren’t counting calories, but you are Weight Watcher points…they’ve got a glass for that too! Got more than one kid driving you crazy? Pour a glass of wine based on the number of kids you’ve got. I’m telling you, Caloric Cuvée has a wine glass for every wine lover you know!

Head over and check out all of the Caloric Cuvée wine glasses. They’re fun, helpful, and make a great gift. And if you like  these glasses as much as I do, you can also follow Caloric Cuvée on Facebook. Help us spread the word if you are a fan!

Wine Chateau Wine Reviews: Good Wine, Easy Buying!

Disclosure: Thanks to the Wine Chateau for providing me with a bottle of each of these fantastic wines. All opinions expressed are my own.

wine_review_from_wine_chateau If you have been reading my blog for any length of time you know two things about me: that I am a huge fan of wine and that I love red wines…big, bold red wines. I’ve told you before about Wine Chateau and the amazing selection of wines that they have. They recently sent me a few bottles to try out. A couple of weeks ago, my family and I headed to Kludgy Mom’s place to spend the weekend with them. I thought it would be the perfect time to bust out the wine and get several opinions!

Wine Chateau Wine Reviews

Domaine De La CharbonniereDomaine De La Charbonniere Cuvee Mourre Des Perdrix Chateauneuf Du Pape 2007 – That’s quite a mouthful, huh?! I gotta tell you, I’m a sucker for a beautiful label and bottle of wine…even before I know what it tastes like. And this bottle is stunning.

The wine is swoon-worthy…it’s not a cheap bottle of wine, but worth every penny. It’s easy to drink and would make a perfect special occasion gift.

The wine is made from grapes that come from 80 year old vines. It’s a blend of Grenache (90-95%) and Mourvedre (5-10%). Just one sip and I was in love! It’s smooth and velvety on the palate, with a long finish. That boldness I love so much sticks with you and it’s hard to put it down. Lots of tannins and punch (not sure what tannins are? Check out my  What are Tannins? post for a thorough description). A perfect Natalie wine!

I could taste berries and cherries, as well as other spices. This one got a two thumbs up from me, and from others that tried it. Note to self: Next time don’t share this one!

You can purchase a bottle of this beautiful wine at Wine Chateau (Psst! It’s on sale right now for $34.97…regularly priced $57.98!)

Benziger Family Winery Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 – This wine is an easy drinking, kick back and enjoy a couple of glasses with friends kind of wine. It goes down smoothly with a nice finish, and makes you want to take another sip. It’s one of those wines that’s really affordable but tastes like it cost a fortune.

wine_review_from_wine_chateau You’ll taste and smell flavors and scents of blackberry, spice and hints of vanilla and black currant. It may sound sweet-tasting, but it’s actually not at all.

There’s not much I can say about this wine other than we all liked it! It would make a great everyday wine, but you can also pour it for guests and have them think it cost a lot more than you paid for it.

Priced at $14.97 a bottle, it’s worth picking up more than just one or two! Head over to Wine Chateau to purchase a bottle for your next hang out with friends.

wine_review_from_wine_chateauEstancia Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 – I like my wine finish to linger…to remind you it’s still there after you’ve taken the glass away from your lips, and this Cab doesn’t disappoint!

The Estancia Cab has a reach, deep color and swirls beautifully in the glass. You’ll smell rich and fruity aromas of black cherry and taste chocolate, vanilla, and currants. I love the spicy, peppery notes (remember, I like ’em bold!) You’ll note the velvety tannins and  a long finish.

This one is also a great value for a great wine. Last time we were in Paso Robles, we actually visited this winery and I remember how much I liked this wine when I tried it there.

Pick up Estancia Cab at Wine Chateau for just $12.97 a bottle! Pretty good bang for your buck!

Another reason I’m such a fan of Wine Chateau is because you get free shipping if you buy a case of wine from them, and you can mix and match. So make sure to check out all of the great wines they offer. Join their mailing list and you will get $10 off of shipping even if you don’t order a case.

Are you a fan of big, bold red wines like I am? What is your favorite? If you are looking for new ones to try, all three of the wines reviewed here were hits!

Mommy’s Time Out Wine Review

Okay, I try not to say goofy stuff like this, but TGIF! This week sucked. All three of my kids are sick. Tater woke up on Monday with booger nose, and the girls woke up on Tuesday with the same. Runny noses, coughing, and general crappy attitudes (both mine and theirs) all abound here right now.

Thankfully, my good friend Gigi over at Kludgy Mom is the genius behind Friday Flip Offs, and so I have a very easy way to vent my frustrations without sounding like a complete and total whiner. So to whatever/whoever got my kids sick, I’m flipping you off.

I’d also like to flip off the weather. It’s been horrid and unbearable. It’s 7:00 pm right now and it’s still 100 degrees outside. Keeping 3 kids cooped up in the house all week, sick or not, is not easy and definitely not fun. So please heat, please go ahead and head back to the desert where you belong.

Needless to say, my week has left a lot to be desired. I really was dreaming about a mommy time out. And then, on Wednesday, a magical gift appeared at my door!

Read the card!
I was contacted a few weeks back and asked if I’d like to review…a bottle of wine! Well, um, yeah! I LOVE wine and so I thought it would be perfect for me! But my week was going so badly I’d forgotten about the exciting package I was expecting.
And get this…the name of the wine is Mommy’s Time Out! Cute, I know! And the label just makes me happy to look at! I’m not the best picture-taker ever, but you get the idea…
See the chair with the wine on a table…facing the corner? How do I get a time out like that?!
From the Mommy’s Time Out website, here’s a description of the wine:
We All know that being a Mommy is a difficult job. A Mommy’s Time Out is a well deserved break. These wines are delicate and fruity. They come from some of the finest vineyards in Italy where the best grapes are vinified, resulting in a long lasting finish. They are a great complement to food, or may be served as an aperitif.
Mommy’s Time Out comes in two different varieties: Garganega/ Pinot Grigio and the Rosso Primitivo. I chose to review the Rosso Primitivo.
Rosso Primitivo
Vintage – 2006
Region – Puglia Italy
Grape Variety – Primitivo
Alcohol By Volume 13.5%
Honestly, I am FAR from being a sommelier (wine professional), and although I’d like to think I’m a wine aficionado, I really don’t know that much about it. So I go by taste. And I can say that I really liked this wine! It has wonderful fruity undertones and a very smooth finish. It’s a wine that can stand up to a big meal like beef or pasta, but I enjoyed a glass by itself and it wasn’t too “heavy”. And at a suggested price of $9.99 a bottle, it’s a time out that every mommy can afford!
So although my week wasn’t the best one of the summer, and I had things to flip off, I got my time out…two nights in a row! And I enjoyed every minute of it! If you are interested in getting your own Mommy’s Time Out, head over to the website to find out where you can get your own bottle.
And so it goes…

I received a free bottle of Mommy’s Time Out for hosting this review. All opinions expressed are my own and were not influenced by any other source. I was not compensated to provide an opinion of Mommy’s Time Out wine.
