ater & “Santa“ (my cousin Jaime) 2009 Do you remember being a kid and getting a letter from Santa? My mom got those send-in-your-kid’s-name-and-what-they-want-and-we’ll-send-him/her-a-“personalized“-form-letter-from-Santa. Not that it mattered to us; we waited for those letters for weeks after we sent a letter to Santa. Wanted to make sure that Santa knew that we were being good and what loot we expected him to bring us. This year, Tater asked if he could write a letter to Santa. He wants a red skateboard. He also wants two bombshells (aka two hot chicks), but you’ll have to come back on Wednesday to get that story. Anyways, I’m pretty sure he won’t include the bombshells request in his letter, but I’m positive he will include the skateboard. I’m not sure if you know this or not, but you can get a letter postmarked from the North Pole for your child! It’s really a cool thing to do, and you’re kids will be floored when they see “North Pole“ on the envelope. The best part about it? The letter that Santa sends to your kid will be written by you…that means you can get as creative and personalized as you want!

Here’s how to do it: 1. Have your child (or help your child) write a letter to Santa. Make sure to include not only what your child wants, but also encourage him to ask questions and include thoughts to Santa. 2. Write a Santa letter for return to your child. Include answers to the questions that your child addressed in his letter. Also make sure to write about something important in your child’s life that was not mentioned in the letter…something that Santa would only know if he was watching. 3. Put your Santa letter (the one to be sent back to your child) in a a stamped envelope with your child’s name and address on it. Write “North Pole“ as the return address. Place that envelope in a larger envelope with the child’s letter to Santa in it. 4. Send the large envelope (with the envelope that will be delivered back to your child inside of it) to this address: North Pole Christmas Cancellation ATTN: Postmaster 5400 Mail Trail Fairbanks, Alaska 99709-9999 5. As long as your letter is mailed and received in Alaska by December 15th, your child will receive the letter Santa wrote back to him with a real North Pole postmark on it! 6. Take pictures as your child opens his letter from Santa. It’ll be quite the *shindig*, so you’ll have some good blogging material before the holidays Pretty cool, huh? I had a couple of friends that did this last year, and it worked. I can’t wait to try with Tater this year – he’s going to be so excited. A little off the subject, but let me tell you, using Santa as a form of bribery has been sheer genius! I don’t think that Tater’s ever listened as well as he has been listening to me this last week or so. If he does or doesn’t do what I ask him to do, all I have to say is “Okay, I’m going to tell Santa“ and he does exactly what I want him to! Another perk of being a parent, right? Do you have any cool Santa letter tricks to share? And so it goes…
