Sweet Debbie’s Organic Treats: Allergy-Free and Vegan Recipes

I’ve shared lots of cookbook reviews lately, because I’ve been browsing through so many of them looking for new ideas for the upcoming holidays. I recently was invited to review Sweet Debbie’s Organic Treats: Allergy-Free and Vegan Recipes. I will tell you that I was hesitant at first because we don’t have any food allergies in our house. But I thought more about it and know that some of you do, so I said sure!

A review of the new allergy-free & vegan cookbook Sweet Debbie's Organic Treats.

The author, Debbie Adler, first opened her allergen-free and vegan bakery, Sweet Debbie’s Organic Cupcakes, in Los Angeles in 2006. Her recipes have been published online by Food Allergy Research and Education, The Chalkboard, Life Goes Strong, and on AllergyMoms.com.

What I really love about this cookbook is that it brings so many yummy treats to people that may not normally get to eat them.

All the treats in the book are allergy-free

(including nuts, soy, gluten, and dairy) and sugar-free, too!

Sweet Debbie’s Organic Treats features seasonal recipes (including a couple of pumpkin recipes just in time for Thanksgiving!) Wouldn’t this be a perfect gift this holiday season for people with food allergies, Celiac, or diabetes?

Of course the recipes all come with complete nutritional facts. But another thing that is cool about Sweet Debbie’s Organic Treats is that there are recipes for making your own substitutes (like vegan chocolate chips).

An index of substitutes includes things that you can buy in stores, like coconut nectar (instead of refined sugar); quinoa flour (for protein); and chia seeds (for energy and omega-3). So healthy eaters can have treats too!

And of course all of the pictures are gorgeous and make me want to go to culinary school to become a baker.

With recipes like Irresistible Red Velvet Cupcakes, Salted Caramel Apple Muffins, Cosmic Chocolate Chip Cookies, Gourmet Dark Chocolate Mesquite Brownies, and Blueberry Streusel Donut Holes, you can enjoy delectable treats without feeling guilty.

So if you lead a vegan, gluten-, soy-, nut- and sugar-free…or just healthy…lifestyle, make sure to check out Sweet Debbie’s Organic Treats.
