Somebody Wants What I Have

Yep, by now you may have figured out that I often complain/vent/gripe/whine about how “rough” my life is. I mean, I am “stuck” at home with my kids all day, my toddler is a monster, I don’t have any “me” time. At least that’s what my brain tells me when it’s only 6:00 a.m. and I already know it’s going to be one of those days.

Realistically though, I know I am very, very blessed. I am one of the lucky few who has the option to either work or to stay home and raise my kids. I know my toddler is not a monster he is just a toddler. And as for the “me” time…well, I’ll have to get back to you on that one because I really don’t get a whole lot of it and I don’t know how to put a positive spin on that!

I know I am blessed to have my beautiful children (we went through a lot to get them), an amazing family, our health, and financial stability in a time when so many people do not. Knowing I am blessed, but remembering not to take these things for granted, sometimes is easier said than done.

Thankfully, I recently found a reminder about just how lucky I am. I found a blog written by Amy called The Finer Things in Life. The reminder was her post titled “Somebody Wants What You Have” and it was dated March 10, 2010. It starts out:

“It’s easy to think the grass is always greener in your neighbor’s yard. And perhaps it is. At least the part you can see.”

I love that! My sister A always says “The grass is greener where you water it”. I love that, too! Anyways, take a look at Amy’s post. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

As Amy says, the next time your situation threatens to steal your joy, try to remember… somebody wants what you have. I am so blessed and I love my crazy, stressful, sleepless, hectic, and routine life!

And so it goes…

Such a good reminder. That's what I meditate on when I'm feeling overwhelmed. I hear so many Grandmas and older Moms advise me to enjoy it, it goes too fast, {and even though it's crazy} you'll miss it, they say. I believe them and try to enjoy it, even when we are all crying. Thanks for sharing this post of yours and the link, very encouraging!
  3. great perspective! having little ones is a difficult season, and even though you'll be so glad to get your sleep back someday, and enjoy the ease of them being more independent, you will miss the baby days and be amazed at how quickly time passes. my babies are almost 10 and 12 already!

I have to remind myself of how good I have it too. I definitely appreciate the wonderful people in my life...but they can still drive me crazy. :)
  5. I love that. It is so true. I will have to tell myself that when things get hard for me.

Well said. I will go read her post too, but this was a great post.
