She Makes Her Appearance (Finally): Dinner Plate Dahlia

She finally…

makes her long awaited appearance. And it made my day.

She’s supposed to be the size of a dinner plate, but is only the same size as my hand. Still beautiful though!

I don't do Dahlia's here in MN. It would require me to dig them up every Fall. I had a friend in WA who would grow those dinner plate sized ones. Absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite flowers ever!

There's nothing more frustrating than waiting for the first flower to bloom! But, how exciting when they do! I felt the same for my Peonies! Yours will get dinner plate size, the first are always sort of a 'test' for the plant to see if it does produce a flower... The picture is gorgeous and it did make me smile... Thanks for sharing... And, hope the kids are better... Come visit when you can...

    Love dahlias!

I ALMOST bought one this weekend.

But I've been neglecting the yard and dealing with the pirate raccoons, so...I figured I shouldn't buy flowers just to kill them.
