We are getting ready to go to Hawaii soon, our first big family vacation! There be lots of snorkeling and driving around exploring the island, and maybe even a few boat rides.
But I always worry about is motion sickness. I have had a couple of major motion sickness experiences that still make my stomach turn when I think about them.
Like the one time I was a kid and was reading in the car up the windy roads of a mountain. Although I didn’t vomit, I have never been so nauseated in my life…not even when I had morning sickness! I never read in the car anymore, and I try to keep my eyes closed when we are on windy roads or lots of hills. Because the thought of experiencing that feeling again terrifies me.
Then there was the time as an adult that my uncle took us for a ride on his sailboat. Before we left, he asked if anybody wanted some Dramamine® so as to avoid getting sick on the boat. I passed, because I hadn’t experienced motion sickness for years (though I had never been on a sailboat before, either.) Well, of course I got motion sickness and this time I did vomit. A lot. I ended up lying down below deck for the entire sail. It was absolutely miserable.
So anytime we travel, I always dread the possibility of motion sickness. Which is why I started taking Dramamine® for motion sickness as a preventative measure. Dramamine® is the #1 pharmacist recommended brand for treating and preventing motion sickness. Until I decided to learn more about the brand, I never knew you could take it to treat motion sickness!
And while most of us know about regular Dramamine® , you can also find Dramamine ® Non-Drowsy Naturals. To make sure that motion sickness won’t ruin our trip, I’ll be taking them with me. Better safe than sorry.
What I like about the Dramamine® Non-Drowsy Naturals is that it can prevent and treat nausea and vomiting without the drowsy side effects through a clinically tested dosage of ginger. Other sources of ginger that you can find in candies, gums, or ginger ale may not contain a full clinical dose and may not work as well to alleviate symptoms. And because it’s made from natural ginger, it’s safe to use anytime you need it (but don’t take more than 4 capsules in a 24 hour period!)
I’ll keep you posted on whether or not it works for me and if it’s really non-drowsy. I’m hoping I don’t have to use it, but I know I will be taking it before I step foot on any boats or in a car on any windy roads!
