Candy. What can I say other than I love it. In fact, I love it so much that I don’t even keep it in the house most of the time. Because if I know it’s there, I swear it calls to me and makes me eat it. And in order for the Brazil Butt Lift to work, you can’t really eat endless amounts of candy. But one of Mama Kat’s writing prompts this week was to list your top favorite candies, and I couldn’t resist!
Here they are, in no particular order, my top 5 favorite candies…
Regular, peanut, almond, peanut butter, sweet ‘n salty, mini, dark chocolate, or pretzel, it’s a fact that I love them all. But if you asked me to pick only one kind to have for the rest of my life, it would be peanut butter.
When we were little kids, anytime we had barbecues or get-togethers at our house, my dad would run to the liquor store for beer and he’d always, ALWAYS bring us home a candy. And it was always, ALWAYS M&Ms. Now as kids, we got tired of always, ALWAYS getting the same thing. We just wanted something different.
But as adults, I think all of us still love M&Ms. Maybe it reminds us of our dad, or maybe we just all like chocolate.
Peanut Butter Cups
Notice I didn’t specify Reese’s peanut butter cups. That’s because there are lots of other yummy peanut butter cups out there, and I ain’t picky. Some of the best peanut butter cups in the entire world are Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups. They are SO creamy and melty and yummy. I could eat the entire package of them in one sitting. Because really, you can’t go wrong with peanut butter and dark chocolate.
Every Halloween, I pretty much make myself sick gourging on Brach’s Mellowcreme Pumpkins. If you don’t know what they are, they are basically candy corn flavored pumpkins. I love the Autumn Mix, which has the pumpkins and two different types of candy corn.
Funny enough, I only want/crave/gourge myself on these candies around Halloween time, and I’m usually totally sick of them by Thanksgiving. It’s a good thing I only think to find them once a year or I’d probably weigh 500 pounds.
Creamy, smooth, minty heaven. I think I could live on meltaway mints. You can find them all over, but by far my favorite are the Hickory Farms Meltaway Mints. They literally melt away as you eat them. Thankfully, you can only find them around the holidays or again, I’d weigh 500 pounds.
When we were kids, we used to walk down to our little neighbor drugstore – Gemmels was the name – at least once a day (sometimes more) to visit the candy aisle. It was a big aisle with a great candy selection. But since we were kids, we didn’t have enough money to buy the candy bars. Instead we’d buy what I guess was penny candies and dime candies. For a dime, you could get a Jolly Rancher Stick. We used to eat a lot of them.
And besides the nostalgia behind the Jolly Rancher Sticks, how could I make my Jolly Rancher Infused Vodka recipe if I didn’t love Jolly Ranchers?! If you haven’t tried making this vodka yet, do it for your next party. Everybody thinks that cherry or sour apple would be the best, but a fan favorite around here is actually the Blue Raspberry, which is a good thing since it seems that most of the packages have more of those than any other flavor.
Stay tuned tomorrow because I’m going to share a recipe with you that will have you making S’mores with Hershey’s chocolate bars without even needing to be around a campfire to do it! In the meantime, what are your top five favorite candies?
