Monster Likes #3

Welcome to the third Monster Likes of 2011! Every Saturday, I list my favorite selection of posts I found throughout bloggy land over the past week.
If one of your posts is listed below and you want the badge, just shoot me an email or leave me a comment and I’ll send you the badge to put on your post.

So here are my favorite posts of the past week:

Cate’s sister Andy guest posted for her over at Real Life with Kids. The post is titled Toddlers Are Like Drunk People, and yes, the post is just as funny as it sounds.

Gigi over at Kludgy Mom about why no man should ever have a man cave, and that we women deserve she-spas. I laughed throughout the whole post…I could’ve had the same conversation (with the same outcome by the way) with my husband!

Katie of Sluiter Nation wrote a beautiful post about what she hopes that her son will be able to say about her someday. If you are a mom (especially of boys), you will love this!

Alex of Late Enough writes about her young son wanting to wear a bow in his hair. It’s powerful and moms really should read it.

Kristi at Live and Love…Out Loud wrote a post about her husband that brought tears to my eyes and literally gave me goosebumps. Powerful. Moving. Beautiful. Just read it.

The Flying Chalupa has a permanent spot on my Monster Likes posts. I was so excited to roll out Monster Likes last week that I forgot to put her on the list. She will be here from now on. I love everything she writes, and I swear that every time I read a post I think “This is my new favorite Chalupa post”. So if you don’t know The Flying Chalupa, go now! You won’t be disappointed.

My favorite comment of the week was left by Julie of byanyothername on the post KLZ wrote about her Monster Mommy Moment:

“My worst boob moment: When the assistant principal of my high school used his key to walk into my locked classroom (he thought it was empty and wanted to leave me a note). It was my lunch break and I was pumping breast milk(yep. double pump. both nipples stetched like a dairy cow).”

Julie…talk about mortifying! Thanks for bravely sharing that one. And I can’t wait to hear the other story you mentioned that’s even WORSE than this one…how is that even possible?!

A big thank you to Jennifer at Midwest “Mom”ments for bestowing the Stylish Blogger Award upon me…you’re much too kind and I appreciate the compliment!!

And I don’t normally do this, but if you missed my post yesterday (A Typical Phone Conversation) you might want to go read it – I can’t believe how many people could relate to it – I thought I was the only one this happened to!

And so it goes…

  4. I read a few of these this week and loved them so now have to go visit the rest, thanks for the new places to visit!
  5. Bella @ If This is Motherhood says:
This is such a great idea! I would have trouble picking though lol.
  6. I'll have to check all these out, my mouth dropped open when Julie stated the principal walked in on her pumping! TOO FUNNY!!
  7. TornadoTwos says:
What a great idea this is! I loved the toddlers are like drunk people post, I can totally relate to that one.
  8. MommaKiss says:
I'm SO behind. I have saved this post and last week's so that I can read up.

  12. The Flying Chalupa says:
Ditto what Momma Kiss said - so behind. Looking forward to reading Alex's about the bow. And the boob comment - mortifying! I have nothing to compare. About breastfeeding at least.

    Have a great weekend, Nat!
  13. I know. Everyone's jealous of my boob moment (as if pumping isn't awful enough...)

But I'm glad I made you laugh (or cringe), Natalie.

Always happy to share my mortifying moments to make everyone else feel better about theirs.

I've read 3 of the posts you selcted and LOVED them; heading off to read the others now.

    Thanks!
  14. These are great!
  15. Well, Julie definitely takes the uber award! Nice to know they make pumps that actually work for this generation, though. The old days were a farce! I used to donate my excess milk to the local hospital and would spend what seemed like forever trying to use those blankety-blank pumps. Thanks for sharing and come visit when you can...
  16. JDaniel4's Mom says:
I am off to read. These posts sound great.
  17. I've read several and need to read some more. Thanks for the leads.
  18. BalancingMama (Julie) says:
I read a few of these - fantastic choices! Now I definitely have to read the others. Happy weekend! (Julie from 3MomsIn1.com)
  19. Organic Motherhood with Cool Whip says:
I can totally relate to that dairy cow pump moment. Unfortunately I spent WAY too much time exposing myself during my months pumping.
