Mommy’s Time Out Wine Review

Okay, I try not to say goofy stuff like this, but TGIF! This week sucked. All three of my kids are sick. Tater woke up on Monday with booger nose, and the girls woke up on Tuesday with the same. Runny noses, coughing, and general crappy attitudes (both mine and theirs) all abound here right now.

Thankfully, my good friend Gigi over at Kludgy Mom is the genius behind Friday Flip Offs, and so I have a very easy way to vent my frustrations without sounding like a complete and total whiner. So to whatever/whoever got my kids sick, I’m flipping you off.

I’d also like to flip off the weather. It’s been horrid and unbearable. It’s 7:00 pm right now and it’s still 100 degrees outside. Keeping 3 kids cooped up in the house all week, sick or not, is not easy and definitely not fun. So please heat, please go ahead and head back to the desert where you belong.

Needless to say, my week has left a lot to be desired. I really was dreaming about a mommy time out. And then, on Wednesday, a magical gift appeared at my door!

Read the card!
I was contacted a few weeks back and asked if I’d like to review…a bottle of wine! Well, um, yeah! I LOVE wine and so I thought it would be perfect for me! But my week was going so badly I’d forgotten about the exciting package I was expecting.
And get this…the name of the wine is Mommy’s Time Out! Cute, I know! And the label just makes me happy to look at! I’m not the best picture-taker ever, but you get the idea…
See the chair with the wine on a table…facing the corner? How do I get a time out like that?!
From the Mommy’s Time Out website, here’s a description of the wine:
We All know that being a Mommy is a difficult job. A Mommy’s Time Out is a well deserved break. These wines are delicate and fruity. They come from some of the finest vineyards in Italy where the best grapes are vinified, resulting in a long lasting finish. They are a great complement to food, or may be served as an aperitif.
Mommy’s Time Out comes in two different varieties: Garganega/ Pinot Grigio and the Rosso Primitivo. I chose to review the Rosso Primitivo.
Rosso Primitivo
Vintage – 2006
Region – Puglia Italy
Grape Variety – Primitivo
Alcohol By Volume 13.5%
Honestly, I am FAR from being a sommelier (wine professional), and although I’d like to think I’m a wine aficionado, I really don’t know that much about it. So I go by taste. And I can say that I really liked this wine! It has wonderful fruity undertones and a very smooth finish. It’s a wine that can stand up to a big meal like beef or pasta, but I enjoyed a glass by itself and it wasn’t too “heavy”. And at a suggested price of $9.99 a bottle, it’s a time out that every mommy can afford!
So although my week wasn’t the best one of the summer, and I had things to flip off, I got my time out…two nights in a row! And I enjoyed every minute of it! If you are interested in getting your own Mommy’s Time Out, head over to the website to find out where you can get your own bottle.
And so it goes…

I received a free bottle of Mommy’s Time Out for hosting this review. All opinions expressed are my own and were not influenced by any other source. I was not compensated to provide an opinion of Mommy’s Time Out wine.

  2. I think a bought a bottle (ok, a bottle every night) while I was on Vacation in Sunriver, Or because I loved the label and then I really liked the wine. I couldn't find it again once I got home.

Open another bottle and you won't notice the kids being sick :)
  3. Bethany @ Organic Enchilada says:
I could use a time out for sure. But since I don't drink, I guess I'll have to find one on my own. :)

  6. Belle's Butterfly says:
Sorry the kids are sick. We were battling colds last weekend. Belle and I both had them. I still have a lingering cough. Summer colds are the worse too. That wine sounds really good. Is a sweet wine or a dry wine. I can't do dry wines at all. For me, the sweeter the better haha.
  7. Christine says:
We've had the same weather! I keep wondering when the Equator moved North and why it wasn't big news!
  8. If only we could always have people sending us Mommy Time Outs in the mail every day :)

Hope this weekend proves to be better than the start to your week!
  9. Lori @ In Pursuit of Martha Points says:

  15. That's awesome. Wonder if they make beer?
  16. OK, take any sucky week and add a free bottle of Mommy Wine at the end....and you still had a sucky week, but at least it ended well!

Hope everyone is on the mend...our heat spell broke today, hope yours does too.
  17. Pumpkin and Piglet says:
Sorry the kids are sick and in the heat too! Can't be easy. They've hit on a massive market with that wine, I don't know many Mums who wouldn't pick up a bottle just for the name alone :D
  18. MommaKiss says:
I've been buying their wine for a few years. Maybe just a year? Anyway-its pretty gOod but I totally buy it for the label. You should see my stockpile. Wait. That sounds bad.

Flip Off the *ick* here, too. Dammit.
  19. Sharlene T. says:
Unbelievable! A bottle of Mommy's Time Out -- were the gods peeking through your blinds? This is wonderful... and, if the weather stays too hot, you can make a wine freeze with it, too... oh, yes, I luvs my wine freezes... but, would definitely need your review! I know the kiddies will get better but it sure it tough getting through the process, no? hugs...
  20. Funky Mama Bird says:
If there's any wine left in that bottle, can you send it over here? I am engaged in a battle of wills with my toddler, and I'm sad to say that he's winning.
  21. Megan (Best of Fates) says:
What a brilliant marketing campaign - I love it!
  22. Mom of the Perpetually Grounded says:
Oh Gosh, I thought I was gonna die this week because it's still over 90 where I live. You deserved that Time Out!
  23. Sounds to me like we might have more in common than we though. You poor thing with your pinkeye and then the babies getting sick and everything else. That wine was much needed, wasn't it. I did a post way back in the day with just a picture of that wine. I saw it somewhere and thought it was awesome. Anyway, hope you and the kiddos have a better week. It's all uphill from here, right?!

    Love ya!
  24. umm, thought. where it says "than we though"- that was where my evil twin started typing.

Have I mentioned how much I hate typos?
  25. Mrs.Mayhem says:
This isn't the end of a sucky week; it's the start of an awesome weekend!
  26. moveovermarypoppins says:
Healthy vibes for Tater and the Ladies!

I've had the Pinot blend from the MTO, and it's crisp and easy on the palate. Great summer wine!

  27. The Urban Cowboy says:
Glad you were able to enjoy a well deserved mommy time out.
  28. redriverpak says:

Sorry the kids are sick...that really sucks especially when you can't go outside b/c the smallest will melt. I feel ya!
  30. Aging Mommy says:
Sorry to hear all the kids are sick, that is tough. One great thing about summer is the germ free and sick free time and I am so dreading the start of bug season again! Hope they are all better soon and in the meantime keep drinking the wine :-)
  31. Belly Charms says:
I want a bottle. My 3 year old has been sick too. I just read your question about PR on Blog Frog and now I am a new follower. I hope it all gets better this weekend.
