Whirlwind Weekend Adventure: The LA LobsterFest

la-lobsterfest We had a crazy busy weekend. I’m not complaining at all! It was a lot of fun and we spent a lot of time together as a family. On Friday night, we met my siblings for pizza before heading to the field to watch my nephew play football. On Saturday, Jason and I took the kids to the LA LobsterFest at the Ports o’ Call in San Pedro. On Sunday, Jason and I also got a date night complete with food, drink, and the Oddball Comedy Festival.

We had a blast at the LA LobsterFest! I had never heard of LA LobsterFest before, but what could be bad about a day on the ocean, music, and tons of seafood?

la-lobsterfest There was a pirate show for the kids to watch and live music. There were tons of food booths, as well as carnival rides for the kids. And of course, there was lobster.

The kids were not down for trying lobster. I think the fact that it came to us whole on the plate and you had to pick the meat out is what threw them over the edge and into the valley of NO. Maybe next year they’ll try it.

la-lobsterfestThere were also pirates walking around on stilts. Ethan thought they were the coolest people ever, but the girls weren’t impressed. Lila was actually terrified of the pirates and cried whenever she spotted them.

mega-cargo-ship IMG_2301 We also got to see something I’ve never seen before; a mega cargo ship coming in through the port. The thing was HUGE. No, huge doesn’t even begin to describe how big this ship was! I couldn’t even fit the entire thing into the picture with my phone camera, but here’s a photo of what it looks like. It was really incredible to see, and I think Jason and I were more excited about it than the kids were.

All my favorite people were there with me, the food was awesome, the weather was pretty wonderful (just hot as usual), and the atmosphere was great. Not bad for a day at the ocean!
