Insert Foot In Mouth

You know you’re a mom when… you run into the house for 30 seconds to get a wet wipe for baby’s dirty hands, and come back to this:

Ms. L
Not only did she walk in mud, she decided to eat it, too. I think I’m gonna need a few more wipes and a toothbrush! And where did the mud on her hands go?!

And, this is also for Wordless/Wordful Wednesday. Hope it made you crack a smile 🙂

And so it goes…

  1. Oopsy. Isn't that always the case, we clean up one mess just to come face to face with yet another.
  2. immunity?
  3. Sheena Simpson says:
Could be worse-could be a full diaper she was playing in.
  4. Arizona Mamma says:
Love it! Who hasn't eatin a good mudpie in their life? It's like a right of passage. Or at least that's what I tell myself.
  5. HAAAAA!!! Oh, baby!!! At least it wasn't something in her diaper!!! ;)
  6. ugh!! doesn't this make you want to pump out her stomach? LOL!!
  7. Susie B. Homemaker says:
Haha... it's amazing what kids can do in only a few seconds. Ah well, as the saying goes 'God made dirt and dirt don't hurt'. ;D
  8. Allyson & Jere says:
Silly kids, they truly will eat anything. I used to get so freaked out and grossed out, until finally I realized, it hasn't killed them, and I can't ever seem to stop them, so, hope for the best. I mean, i have my limits...no cords, electrical anythings and no dead bugs, that is just TOO much!
  9. Night Owl Mama says:
LOL ain't that always the way! lol too funny
  10. I know how you feel. And I've seen worse! lol! At least she had fun?! lol!

  13. mooneyequalsmc2 says:

    Happy WW!

  14. Not only a smile but a little bit of a laugh. Thanks. And I suppose a little digested dirt won't kill anyone. :)
  15. Hahaha!! My son's face looked like that last night, but it was from ice cream. Hopefully she now knows that mud doesn't taste so good. ;-)
  16. the question is, did you stop her before she actually ate it or are you still waiting for those results. ;)
  17. Maybe she did it with her feet rather than her hands?
  18. An Imperfect Momma says:
Hmmm...this makes me scared for my future. I could say at least it wasn't poop...but then again isnt that just the same?
  19. The Sharp's says:
Hey, at least it wasn't poop!!!
She is so adorable, mud and all!
  20. Funny! I also love that you were able to get a picture of it! Whenever something like that happens here I usually miss the photo opp. Such a fun picture to look back at!
  21. Stacy (the Random Cool Chick) says:
AHAHAHAHA! That's way too funny! The look on her face is priceless! :)

  23. Lori @ In Pursuit of Martha Points says:
    Oh that's brilliant.

Yes, brilliant. I love the "Umm...where did the go?" moments of parenting.
  24. Kristi {at} Live and Love...Out Loud says:
That's too funny! I'm just glad it was you and not me. lol

  25. In her mouth. The mud went in her mouth.
  26. parentingBYdummies says:
It's in her belly of course!
  27. Sluiter Nation says:
We have that same butterfly sandbox/wading pool!

And mud? Is so very cute...and it's good roughage...i mean, you've seen how Eddie eats sand right?

    ew. :)
  28. A lil dirt never killed anyone. We used to eat mud pies. Wait. Maybe that's what's wrong with me?!?!
  29. *whew* Totally thought it was poop. If it was one of my kids it would have been.
  30. I love that look on her face....like, "Hey, what-you lookin' at??"....only a mom could understand.
  31. She's all, "what? It's just dirt?" Oh to be a kid again!
  32. Dirt's nothing but a bunch of minerals and grit. That's actually good for us, right? ;) She's adorable! (And I have lived this very same moment!)
  33. Thank goodness it was only mud! At first glance, I thought it was something else :)
  34. A little dirt don't hurt.
    Happy WW!
  35. Life Is A SandCastle says:
    Newest follower, too cute!
  36. Aging Mommy says:
I think mud is OK - messy but relatively safe to eat. Your girls are going to need a blog all of their own soon for you to keep us updated with their antics!
  37. Losing Brownies says:
    Aww, she's so cute though!
  38. The Sweetest says:
    At least it wasn't poop.
  39. redriverpak says:
I'm like some of the others...my first thought was "The kid is playing with the poop!" :)
  40. oy. at least it wasn't poo. :)
  41. Too funny! My daughter just called this afternoon to tell me about her son's diaper blow out. She wishes it was mud.
  42. The Zany Housewife says:
I'd take that over my daughter's diaper fiasco this afternoon. Too cute!
  43. I think Ms. L licked the mud from her hands! That's why it's all over her mouth, and not on her hands! "Look Mom...mud melts in your mouth, not in your hands"!
  44. Missy @ Wonder, Friend says:
So cute (especially when it's someone else's kid!).

We decided to keep a list of things our 16 month old licks, and then realized we could never write it all down. Nor do we want to remember some of the things he's put in or near his mouth. Yuck.
  45. The Flying Chalupa says:
Okay, the first thing I noticed was how big she is now! Your babies are growing up before our eyes! And eating mud, apparently.
  46. What a cutie! Yes, I have definitely had this happen a time or two. My boys like to try to eat rocks for some reason. I am forever digging them out of their mouths when we go outside. Congrats on being the new host of this great meme. I will have to play along next week!
