Happy Birthday Ladies

My Sweet Girls,

One year ago today, this was me, your mommy:

Patiently (okay “patiently” might be an exaggeration) waiting for you two little angels to enter the world so I could meet you.
The morning of August 17th, 2009, I went to see my doctor for my normal weekly check up. I was 35 weeks to the day pregnant. Since I was about 16 weeks pregnant, I had been having contractions and was on medication and modified bedrest to stop them. At about 30 weeks, I started dilating; not much, but it was a bit concerning. On the morning of August 17th, the doctor checked me and said “Well, your dilated to a 3, and I can feel toes. Are you ready to have your babies?”.
He could feel your toes, Ms. L, because you were breach throughout the pregnancy. Was I ready to have you girls that day? No way! I thought I still had at least a couple more weeks left and wasn’t at all prepared! Did I want you out because I was huge and miserable? Definitely yes!
So I went home to get my already packed bag (the one thing that was actually done), make arrangements for Tater’s favorite person in the whole world to come and sit with him (Auntie S), and called Gramma to meet your daddy and I at the hospital.
I was nervous, excited, and scared. Nervous and excited because I had two beautiful (I already knew you’d be beautiful) babies to meet, and scared of being cut wide open.
And everybody else was excited too!
Daddy was excited to be there to meet you
Auntie H (pregnant) and Auntie A (just had baby S), were with me waiting
Uncle S even was there! He was happy even though you can’t tell
And Tater was there, too! With Cousin S and Auntie S.
Uncle S was also with her, but didn’t make it in the picture.
And that evening at 4:33 and 4:35, you entered the world
We all loved you so much. And Tater was so excited to have sisters.
And here you are today…
Happy birthday, ladies! We love you too much!

It's incredible that they go from such tiny infants to mobile independent toddlers in 1 year.
I am not sure I had to wear the surgical cap for my c-sections. I know Ken wore one, I have a picture. No, I definitely didn't have one. I am remembering now.
Anyhoos, have a great birthday celebration!!
  45. Laurie Wallin says:
What a great shot of the two of them toddling around. You are a kindred spirit with 3 under 3 (4?). I was that mom too, a few years ago. Adopted toddler sisters and delivered another a year later. Nuts. So, did they massacre the cake?? :)
