Over the past month, all of us (with the exception of Ethan) have been sick. Jason started it, followed by Mia, Lila, and ending with me.
Poor Mia always seems to get hit the hardest.
She’s the one that ends up miserable on the couch, wanting to do nothing but sleep and cry. She always gets it worse than the rest of us do.
It’s sad to know how crappy the kids feel and to also know there’s really not a whole lot you can do about it. Mia was complaining about how much her throat hurt, and then when I got sick and my throat hurt, I knew how horrible she must have felt. Throat lozenges didn’t help, warm milk didn’t help…really nothing helped.
And then a couple of days later, I got this great big smile from her and knew she was feeling MUCH better!
Mia’s feel better smile makes me melt every time I see it! It means that life is back to normal, that I won’t have to hear her wake up crying at night because she feels so bad. She can run and play again! She can chase frogs and roll around in the grass. She can be happy again.
So now, I’m SMILING IT FORWARD™ because all of us are healthy again! No coughs, runny noses, or sore throats. And after being sick and then feeling better, you realize how precious being healthy really is.
