Ethan Draws Pictures Of Me…And According To My Work Description, You Can Just Call Me The Maid

Did you guys see the picture that Scary Mommy’s son drew of her? It was hilarious to see the drawing…which she said made her look like Honey Boo Boo’s Mom. One of this week’s writing prompts that Mama Kat does for Writer’s Workshop was to ask your child to draw a portrait of you and share it. So I did.

Now this is a picture that Ethan drew of me a few months ago. I love the bouffant and the big cheery smile (never mind the fat cheeks). The “iLU” means I Love You. It made me so happy when he gave it to me and has been hanging on the fridge since.

Yesterday, I asked him to draw another picture of me. Here’s what I got:

Aside from the ginormous hands and what may or may not be a penis, I think it’s pretty good!

Then at dinner, we were talking about how big he was getting. Just within the last couple of weeks, the kid eats nonstop. NON.STOP. We had carnitas tacos for dinner, and he ate three of them! So I mentioned he was eating so good and was going to get so big and strong. His reply was to tell me not to worry, he still needed a Mommy.

This of course melted my heart and so I asked him why he needed a Mommy. He said “I still need a Mommy to wash the dishes. And do the laundry. And to take me to school. And to cook dinner.”

Clearly the kid doesn’t need a Mommy, he needs a maid! But it doesn’t matter. I’ll take it. And I know he loves me and still likes my snuggles and hugs and kisses. And that’s enough for me.

Mama’s Losin’ It I wrote this post for Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop for Prompt #2: Ask your child to draw a portrait of you and share it with us. (Inspired by Scary Mommy)

  1. This post cracked me up!! The fact that you may or may not have a penis in his depiction of you is awesome and the fact that he still needs his mommy for simply your domestic abilities is hysterical! He has the right idea though, draw a sweet adorable picture of you to butter you up and keep you doing all the chores for him. You've got a little genius on your hands. ;) Sara Carbaugh recently posted..Operation Cheery Ho-HoMy Profile

  3. I love those pictures, especially the ILU!! So very sweet. The first thing I noticed in both pictures was the great big smile on your face. Christine @ Love, Life, Surf recently posted..Portraits of a MotherMy Profile
  4. The hands are great! An early childhood educator told me that she awards 1 point for each body part; it shows some kind of development milestone to notice these enough to draw them! She'd be impressed with his drawing! PragmaticMom recently posted..Gift Guide: Book Ideas for Everyone on Your ListMy Profile
