Tater and Auntie S

In advance, I must apologize to Gramma and Pops, Aunties A & H, all uncles, and anybody else who might be offended by the declaration I’m about to make: Tater’s favorite person in the whole wide world is his Auntie S.

Yes, this is true. I can admit it. I believe I come in an almost too-close-to-call second, but I’m not top dog on his list of favorite people. His Auntie S takes it hands down.

Now don’t get me wrong; he is crazy about his Mommy and Daddy. He loves all of his cousins, aunties, uncles, and Gramma and Pops. He asks everyday if he can go see Auntie A or go see Pops. Sometimes he asks to play with his cousin K or to see baby K-Love (his newest cousin). Occassionally, he will ask to see his cousins S, S2, or S3, but really he only wants Auntie. She trumps all of us.

Hubby and I know that if you asked Tater who he’d rather spend the day with out of the three of us, he’d pick Auntie S. He is crazy about her! He gets her undivided attention when they are together, and he also gets just about anything he asks her for. She colors with him, plays down on the ground with him, takes him on walks, and gives him anything he wants to eat. All he has to do is bat those big, beautiful eyes and she’s putty in his hands!

He doesn’t even like to share her…she came over today and I asked him if Auntie could sit down and talk to mom and dad for a little while and he said no…and he wasn’t kidding! He “talks” to her on his cell phone. When we ask him what he wants to do he answers “see Auntie S”. If we say we have a surprise for him he hopes it’s one of three things: peanut butter and chocolate (Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups), money, or see Auntie S…not neccesarily in that order.

To Aunties A & H: understand that Ethan gets Auntie S’s undivided attention because she doesn’t have to chase after little ones anymore! It’s what I have to tell myself everytime she is around because Tater doesn’t want anything to do with me if she is. I have felt guilty since the girls were born that Tater and I don’t get to spend nearly as much one-on-one time as we used to. I feel like I neglect him because I just can’t do everything he wants to do and take care of two babies all at the same time.

So when Auntie S is around, I hope she knows how much that I appreciate all the attention she gives him and I want to thank her for doing the things with him that I just can’t do because I don’t have the time everyday. She is his special treat, and I hope it stays that way forever!

And so it goes…
