It’s summer time (almost) finally. And really, is there anything better than a yummy ice cream, smoothie, or shake to cool you down when it’s 100+ degrees outside? I think not!
So when I got a chance to try Dreyer’s new shakes and smoothies, I jumped at the chance! If you don’t know who Dreyer’s is, you probably know Edy’s. It’s Dreyer’s west of the Rockies and Edy’s east of the Rockies. Anyways, whatever name you call them by, they are YUMMY!
Dreyer’s/Edy’s recently introduced their new Slow Churned Shakes and Fruit Smoothies. You find them in the freezer aisle next to the ice cream, and in 30 seconds you can have a shake or smoothie – all you have to do is add milk and stir! There’s no mess, no pulling out the blender, no frozen hands from scooping, and no clean-up!
Seriously, all you have to do is remove the lid, add milk, stir, and enjoy. And believe it or not, the shake cups contain half the fat and one-third fewer calories than regular shakes, so it’s an indulgent treat that you don’t have to feel guilty about…we all need to treat ourselves every now and then right?
I’m also a fan of smoothies, and these didn’t disappoint. These smoothies are creamy and have bits of real fruit, fruit juice and frozen yogurt in them. And if you use fat-free milk, it’s a fat free treat!
And they have a great assortment of flavors:
Dreyer’s/Edy’s Slow Churned Shakes
• Cookies ‘n Cream
Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Smoothies
• Strawberry Banana
• Mixed Berry
• Tropical (Pineapple, Mango, Passion Fruit)
• Sunrise Blend (Peach, Orange, Banana)
I tried the vanilla shake, and the kids tried the Cookies ‘n Cream. They LOVED the shake, and were actually crying for more when it was gone! Okay, I tried a couple tastes too, and the cookie really comes through and I would definitely like to eat a whole one by myself without sharing it. I also tried the vanilla shake (by myself). It was creamy and smooth, but a bit too vanilla-y for my taste.
I am now a huge fan of the smoothies. I tried the Tropical and the Sunrise Blend, and I could drink one everyday for breakfast. The bits of real fruit are so good! The smoothie is really creamy and the size is just right.
Now if I was reading this, I would assume that these treats were pricey. Not so. You can find the Dreyer’s/Edy’s new single-serve 10.0 oz shake or 9.5 oz smoothie at your grocery store with a suggested retail price of $1.79. I actually found them on sale for 4 for $5. And believe me, it’s definitely a deal that is too good to pass up!
