Make Collecting Box Tops For Education Fun!

I recently told you about why we collect Box Tops for Education and how the kids are also excited about helping collect them. In fact, shopping for products that have Box Tops for Education has become a scavenger hunt!

Do you support Box Tops for Education? Make it fun for the kids to support their school by collecting Box Tops. Whether it's a scavenger hunt at the store or preparing their own lunches with Box Tops products, my kids love to collect them!

And the kids always get really excited when we shop at Walmart and they find Bonus Box Topson select General Mills® products because they’re worth 5 times more than a regular one!

And while we look specifically for products that have Box Tops for Education on them, I’m always suprised by how many products that we use regularly have them. It’s such an easy way to get the kids involved in helping and supporting their school.

One of the ways that I keep the kids excited about supporting Box Tops for Education is to let them pack their own lunches using the products that we purchase.

On Sundays, I let the kids sit down with all the things that don’t need to be refrigerated that we put in their lunch (Lila loves eating Cheerios) and they can put together lunches for the week. Then each night of the week, they pack all of the lunch stuff into their lunch boxes and put them in the fridge to take to school the next morning.

They like being the last one to eat something in a box with Box Tops on it because then they get to cut out the Box Tops for Education out and put it into our little plastic baggy that we keep pinned to their school bulletin board.

Each time they add to it, they get to take it down and count how many are there. When they’ve collected 20 Box Tops, they know that they get to take them to school and hand them in to their teacher. This is something that each of them look forward to doing!

Box Tops for Education -and getting the kids inolved and excited to support their school – is important to me as a parent. The school recently purchased many new computers and when I explained that Box Tops for Education helped the school be able to do that, they felt proud that they were a part of the process. They ask what the school will get next, and that makes me proud because they understand the concept of giving to their school. Giving is something I strive to teach them, and it’s good to know that they are “getting it”.

Do you support Box Tops for Education? What fun things do you do to get the kids involved in the process?

Okay, you may not be able to tell that Lila and Mia love Knott’s from this picture of us coming down the huge hill on the Timber Mountain Log Ride, but I swear it’s the first ride the kids always want to go to when we get there! We are lucky enough to visit several times a year…so much so that we are talking about getting Knott’s Berry Farm season passes for 2015.

Did you even know that you can get Knott’s Berry Farm season passes? NOW is the perfect season to buy a 2015 Knott’s Season Pass. Why? Because you will get the lowest price of the year. And as an added bonus to buying early, one visit during the 2014 season is included in the 2015 Season Pass when purchasing now and also includes discounts for Knott’s Scary Farm.

My kids aren’t old enough for Knott’s Scary Farm, but I remember going as a kid (junior high and high school.) Scared the crap out of me, which is what kids that age enjoy. You couldn’t pay me to go now, but my nieces love it! We are more in the Camp Spooky phase of life at our house. It’s one of our favorite times to visit Knott’s.

This is family friendly Halloween celebration. It happens in the daytime and is a non-scare celebration of cheer rather than fear. It’s perfect for the whole family, and geared towards kids ages 3-11.

My princess, soldier, and witch with me on our way to Camp Spooky in October 2013.

took the girls to Camp Spooky a couple of years ago, and we all went as a family last year. We are looking forward to going again in a couple of weeks…stay tuned for details of the fun. There’s always a ton for the kids to do!

The kids can wear their Halloween costumes if they’d like and take part in Snoopy’s Costume Party by joining a (non-scary) group of monsters and the PEANUTS characters in a parade through Camp Spooky.  There are lots of interactive activities, and of course, there is Trick-or-Treating. Located throughout Camp Spooky, there are several Trick-or-Treating locations. And Camp Spooky has some new rides too!

Are you ready to pick up your Knott’s Berry Farm season passes for the family? We hope to see you there!

Word Crimes

My friend Stephanie at Froggy & the Mouse shared this on Facebook and I love it! It’s Weird Al’s newest song Word Crimes, which is a parody of Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines. If you’re a fan of words and writing and people who don’t use proper grammar make you crazy, you’ll love this.
