Happy 7th Birthday Girls!

Today my little ladies turn 7! They started 2nd grade last week, and are enjoying their new friends and teacher.

Every year, I write a Happy Birthday post to them and share words that describe them.

Happy Birthday Lila!

My Life In Pictures: February 16 – 29, 2016

Back in October, I started what I thought was the best idea EVER: To share my Instagram pictures a couple of times a month since I can’t seem to find time to write! I decided to call it My Life In Pictures. You can see all of my previous posts here. So here’s what I’ve been up to the last couple of weeks.

I shared a picture of Ethan’s freckles, and so of course I have to share Mia’s too!

Lila doesn’t have them as predominantly as the other two, but how old is that kid again? She looks like she’s 6 going on 16…

The girls went to the Father Daughter Dance at school with their very handsome Daddy! I can’t believe how big they are getting. I may or may not have cried.

I have never been prouder of Lila then when she got a Teacher’s Choice Award for her HUGE progress in reading! She went from reading (way) below grade level to reading at the exact level she should be at! She worked so hard to improve, and she now looks forward to our nightly reading.

Spring is here! And I have the allergy symptoms to prove it. If you’re in the same boat I am, I have some makeup tips here for how to avoid allergy face. A friend of mine mentioned that essential oils may help? Anybody have an luck with that? Or tips? I could really use some advice!

I shared the simplest trick ever to easily clean a Foreman grill after posting this picture and a friend complaining about having to clean the grill. People went crazy for it!

Well, it finally happened. I’ve become a Soccer Mom. Jason is coaching Ethan’s soccer team, which means my car has officially turned in to a moving locker. It’s really pain too because when I go grocery shopping I have to pile groceries on top of cones, balls, chairs, equipment, water bottles, dirty socks, and all kinds of other fun stuff.

And I am SUPER excited about this! My 6 year blog anniversary is coming up in just a couple of weeks, so I’ve decided to  redo my blog! I don’t know if I’ll be doing it all myself, but I decided to pick up Melissa Culbertson’s book Blog Design for Dummies. I’m so excited about this book that I’m going to review it soon.

Let me tell you, even if you are a new blogger, interested in blogging, or aren’t considering a blog makeover, you need to read this book! It is FULL of such great advice and how to’s, and even after all these years of blogging, I learned a ton. I highly recommend you reading Blog Design for Dummies because it will help your blogging game. I also recommend that you subscribe to Melissa’s blog Blog Clarity.

I need your help! I’m thinking of making this a bi-weekly or monthly link up. Would you participate?

My Life In Pictures: October 1 – 15

Recently a bunch of us in one of my favorite Facebook groups were all complaining about not having time to write on our own blogs because of jobs and kids and lives outside of the computer. That’s when someone threw out the idea to writing a post in pictures! Take your photos from Instagram, and add them to a post with a short description so that everybody can see what you’ve been up to. I loved the idea because it will also make me take more pictures! So here’s what I’ve been up to…

PicMonkey Collage I’ve always heard of Oak Glen and thought it would be fun to go there and pick apples, so while Jason was working one day we decided to go. We met friends there, and I snapped these pictures. These girls are all so cute together! I am fortunate to have lots of friends who have kids the same age as mine, and we all hope these girls will be friends for life…they’ve been lifelong friends so far!

Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to pick apples, but we’ll definitely be going back to do that soon!

PS – Ethan was with us too, and refused to have his picture taken with a bunch of girls.

The kids are usually terrible at knock-knock jokes, so I was surprised when Lila came up with a good one!

We finally got some rain in So Cal! It wasn’t nearly enough to end the drought, but every little bit helps. And shockingly, I even got a pretty incredible (considering my photography skills) picture of a gorgeous rainbow!

Last week, my sister mentioned getting together for dinner, and I told her about this AMAZING recipe for a Garlicky Chicken & Kale pizza that I had found on Pinterest. We made lots of changes to it, and this recipe is AMAZING. Everybody will love it.

PicMonkey Collage1 And seriously, this picture is the reason I have no time. We are completely remodeling our kitchen and downstairs. From the floors to the ceiling, everything is changing. That first picture is what my house has looked like for months (literally). The second picture is a sneak peek of our new flooring and kitchen…stay tuned for more. We still have paint and countertops and a bathroom to redo, so before and after pictures are awhile off. But I can’t wait to share!

Do you like the idea of doing a post on your life in pictures? If so, leave me a comment – if enough people are interested, I’ll start a link up next week!

Happy 6th Birthday Girls!

Today my baby girls turn 6. Last week they started first grade. They are big girls now, I no longer have babies in the house.

Last year we celebrated the kids’ birthdays with a big birthday party. This year is more low key. We went to Build-A-Bear and will take them to dinner tonight. They are just as happy with that as with the big party!

Happy Birthday Lila!

Wishing For Just One More Afternoon At The Park

This morning, after dropping the girls off at kindergarten, I was driving to the grocery store and passed the park. The park where each of my babies sat in a swing for the first time. The park that has the slide that I have a picture of each of them sitting on with static hair. The park where I used to take them all for afternoon picnics, long before second grade and kindergarten and preschool.

I passed by that park, and longed for just one more afternoon with those toddlers that have since turned into children.

I remember how much I hated having to push swings over and over again until I finally said no more, while they begged for just a little bit longer. I remember that I had other more “important” things to do rather than take them to the park (again). I used to prefer them to sit and watch TV or play outside instead of another afternoon at the park.

And now? I would do almost anything to have just one more afternoon with those babies that used to love the park.

I look back, and realize how much time I wasted with them as I wished time would hurry up and pass…wanting them to get bigger. Wanting them to get through the Terrible Twos stage and the cling-on-to-mommy-constantly stage. I wished all of that time away – I took it for granted. And now I regret it.

Because I would love to spend just one more afternoon at the park with those little people that Ethan, and Lila, and Mia were just a few years ago.

And I’ll use this as a reminder to enjoy them each day, even on the bad days, because time is passing much too quickly and before I know it, they’ll be all grown up.

Disclosure: Written with tears tumbling down my cheeks and full of regret for all of those times that I wished them big.
