Book Suggestions: What Are You Reading Right Now?

Book Suggestions: Looking for recommendations and also giving out some great ones, too!At the beginning of the year, I challenged myself to read 36 book in 2013. That’s about 2 books a month. I thought it was an attainable goal; one that I would be able to achieve if I kept my focus. Since January 1st, I’ve read 10 books, a third of my goal. I think I’m going to need to up my goal number, and I’m going to need book suggestions.

I love keeping track of what I’ve read on Goodreads. Goodreads also allows me to mark books that I want to read, so if someone gives me a book suggestion, I can make sure I won’t forget it. Are you on Goodreads? Check out my Goodreads profile and let me know yours…I’d love to connect and check out your book suggestions!

Anyways, back to what I’m reading. I thought I would show you a screen shot of the 10 books I’ve read:

I’ve gotten really lucky this month, and have read several four and five star books. So if you are looking for book suggestions, here you go.

If you still need more, you can check out this Facebook conversation that started be me asking friends for their favorite book of all time.

All that said, the book that I’m currently reading is The Grimm Diaries Prequels volume 1- 6: Snow White Blood Red, Ashes to Ashes & Cinder to Cinder, Beauty Never Dies, Ladle Rat Rotten Hut, Mary Mary Quite Contrary, Blood Apples.

Here’s a short synopsis: The Grimm Diaries are pages written in a Book of Sand, where each fairy tale character confessed the true stories once altered by the Brothers Grimm two centuries ago. To keep the truth about fairy tales hidden, the Brothers Grimm buried the characters in their dreams to never wake up again. But the curse is broken now, and the characters are allowed to wake up every one hundred years. They intend to tell the truth about really happened, and about an untold cosmic conflict between fairy tale characters.

Sounds pretty cool, huh? Now here’s the best part…you can get The Grimm Diaries Prequels volume 1 – 6 at amazon.com right now on your Kindle just 99 cents! Just click that link and go buy it now!

And if you like them, you can also get The Grimm Diaries Prequels volume 7- 10: Once Beauty Twice Beast, Moon & Madly, Rumpelstein, Jawigi for 99 cents as well. 2 books for 2 bucks!

Since I’m devouring books right now at an alarming (but expensive!) rate, I thought I’d share my post about where to find inexpensive or free books. Because as much as I’d like to pay $10 for books to go right to my Kindle, I just can’t afford it. So any tips you have on where to find cheap books would be appreciated.

What are you reading right now?

  1. I’ve been reading so much more lately it’s insane. My blog is filled with book reviews :)

I have subscribed to a couple newsletters that let you know when Amazon books are free or cheap. DailyCheapReads.com, http://www.freeebookpartay.com/ e-readingonthecheap.com (I think is the url…)

Last but not least, have you signed up on NetGalley? You can get access to TONS of fabulous new books for free :)

  4. You better get Tell No Lies ASAP. I’m a little jealous though because you’ll be able to read it and then jump right into Keep No Secrets since it’s coming out soon. I feel like it’s been forever. I’m definitely re-reading it since I downloaded it for free on Kindle. Yay for books.

PS: I’ve finished ZERO books thus far. Unless you count Green Eggs and Ham among other picture books…lol

  5. Thanks Nat! I got both the Grimm books for 99 cents each! I love my Kindle.

  6. I love your synopsis on the Grimm Diary Prequels. Aren’t they SO GOOD? I’m LOVING them. On book 10 now.

  8. You’ve got a few there that I have on my “want” list.

I just read Jen Lancaster’s new one, Here I Go Again (LOVED it!) and now I am reading an Anne Lamont book. All of her nonfiction is fabulous.

I only read 12 books last year and it has me feeling bad about myself…I’ve already read 2 this year, so I feel good about hopefully crushing that sad number in 2013.

  9. I get my books at the library! Perhaps that is why I am just getting around to reading the books recommended by Oprah :) I do have several on your list on hold though, I’m sure they’ll be available by 2015 or maybe someday I’ll get a Kindle!

  10. I just started using Goodreads this month (what took me so long??) and I’m going to track my reading for the first time. Also I signed up for a challenge to read 100 books this year. I DO read a lot, but since I’ve never tracked my reading, I’m not sure if this is a crazy goal or not.

Thanks for the book recommendations. I need them! lol :)

  11. When on earth do you find so much time to read?! Seriously?! With three kids and multiple writing assignments? I’m super jealous. I haven’t anything on your list. I did however just get Colleen Hoover’s Slammed, who also wrote Hopeless and I’m excited to read it/both. Thanks for sharing your list.
