Berries, Bruises, and Smash Ups, Oh My!

I got nothing today, people. I can’t think of anything interesting to say. You know that I had one helluva crappy Saturday (if you didn’t read it, check it out because it was a pretty good post according to all the comments I got!), that actually turned into a rather enjoyable day, ending with a barbeque and lots of really well deserved wine. Sunday I didn’t do anything interesting at all. But still, shouldn’t I be able to talk about something? Anything? Is this writer’s block? I sure hope not seeing as how I haven’t even been blogging for 3 whole months yet! If it is, I’m in some big trouble!

So here are a few random things…
Tater finally realized that the berry bushes actually had berries on them, and he was quite interested in eating them. He picked the first ripe blackberry, and it was love at first bite. However, he will not pick the berries by himself after the first attempt because he realized that where there are berries, there are also thorns. Since he ate that first berry on Friday, he has continually/incessantly talked about picking more. So on Saturday, there were 3 ripe berries just waiting to be picked. Dad helped him find them and pick them.

Tater pointing out the goods…
And thinking about picking another berry, but hesitating and then deciding not to because of thorns…
Tater wants to know why he has to wash the berries before eating them (he pees in the bushes all the time, so yes, we make him wash them first). He slammed those things straight down his gullet in about three seconds! And because I don’t think things through, there are no pictures of Tater after eating the berries. Even though it would’ve made for a messy, good picture.
And while brother picked berries, the girls played in their playpen under the palapa. Yep, they sit like this all the time! Ms. M is the happy camper, Ms. L is busy cutting teeth and not so happy.
Ms. L is becoming quite the little adventurer and pulls herself up onto everything. The kid has no fear.
What? Oh, the big bruises on Ms. M’s forehead? That would be from where Tater pushed her over right onto the track of the sliding glass door. Not good times.
And just because I’m a glutton for punishment, I submitted the picture of our kitchen island that Tater destroyed with the wrought iron chairs to a blog called Shit My Kids Ruined. Thank you Gail for introducing me to the site because there are some funny posts there! Anyways, I was lucky enough to have our island featured on the 9th. Please go check it out because just when you think your kids have messed your stuff up, you find out that there are a lot worse things that could happen!
Did you miss my big announcement yesterday? About Word Up, YO!? You HAVE to check it out because it will be the meme supreme once it gets up and running! Don’t forget to use “gullet” in a post and link up! And if you were paying attention, you would’ve seen that I used it in this post!
My post for Blog Brew Review on Monday is of Twenty Fingers and Twenty Toes…a fellow mommy of twin girls blogger whom I adore! So please make sure to visit!
And so it goes…

Great pics. I think that is why I do so many meme's! It helps avoid writers block :)
  2. Ms. Understood says:
Awww . . . your kids are so cool, LOL. Very smart guy for getting someone else to stick their hands in to the get the berries (and the thorn pricks). I am loving the use of WOW. Were Ms. M and Ms. L in the same sack when you were pregnant? They really do love being right under each other. Good luck with the teething.
  3. Allyson & Jere says:
I like posts of random. Bummer about the big bruise on your babies head. My poor Max has one constant revolving bruise, I swear. Good thing kids are so resiliant!
  4. Who has writer's block? This was a great catch all. I especially love the pics of the children. :)

I am very excited about Word Up, Yo! and will be participating tomorrow.

    BTW, teething sucks!
  5. Pumpkin and Piglet says:
    Good use of the WOW!

I really enjoy random posts. They're also good for the days when you have little bits and pieces but not enough for a full post! Great photo's and poor Ms M! I love how your girls sit together and it's quite clever of Tater to get others to do the hard work :)

Your babies are absolutely adorable. And by the way, for having "writers block" you sure did throw it out there!

Way to go with "gullet." I'm having issues. I don't think mine will be up for a couple days.
  7. For not having anything to say, you sure managed to write an interesting post! And all those pictures? So sweet!

Oh, and can I just tell you, I can't stop thinking about the word gullet!
  8. peeing in the bushes with the berries...i guess boys will be boys! such great pictures!
  9. Funky Mama Bird says:
I used to hide inside the blackberry bushes when I was a kid and gorge myself. Ah memories!
  10. Oh my gosh, I can't believe I JUST found your blog! I saw the name of your blog and I about fell out of my chair - I've got a just-now three year old little boy and just-now one year old twin girls! It's chaos isn't it?! I love it - but hate it! Okay, not "hate" but I don't think the words "I'm bored" will EVER make their way out of my mouth again... I'm going to sit down with some coffee and read your whole thing later - so glad I stumbled on your story! Your kiddos are adorable - you're doing a great job, Mamma!
  11. Kristin @ Peace, Love and Muesli says:
My kids could care less about the thorns. They shovel those berries down their gullets so fast that I don't even get any. No bush peeing over here.
My 3yo has a similar head bruise. She did it herself banging her head on the window sill. Don't think she'll do that again!
  12. Lula Lola says:
The picture of the girls sitting together looking up is so freaking cute! You must frame it!
We've got to get out and see if there are any blackberries to pick today! I love them!
  13. Maureen says:
I've been having a writer's block since Sunday yikes. I have no idea what to write hahaha. Those pics are adorable esp your twin girls sitting like that...awwww too cute!
  14. NanaDiana says:
Not a word to say? Hmmm...what are you like when you have a LOT to say? That's what I'm wondering! Thanks for keeping us updated with pictures of beautiful babies+. Just another day of motherhood, right?
  15. Awwww, they are too sweet. Babies!
  16. That's a nasty bruise on her noggin! And I laughed out loud with the peeing in the bushes so, yes, he needs to wash the berries!

I need to do my BBR for Wednesday! Thanks for the reminder!
  17. The Sweetest says:
You turned nothing into something enjoyable to read- and your kids are so yummy I could eat them AND your berries
  18. Lolli @ Better in Bulk says:

  23. My kids were out pickin berries Saturday too. Pretty lame weekend here as well. And btw, LOVE that pic of the twins in their playpen.
  24. The Urban Cowboy says:
Tater's all boy that's for sure, with the peeing in the bushes, and WOW, couldn't believe that picture of your kitchen island. Ouch!
  25. forty-something chick says:
Great pics!! Nice post to start my Monday morning, just nice random stuff!

The bruises made me remember the wonderful pediatrician we had when my son was born...I worried what she would think when he always seemed to have some bruise! She said that she worried more about the kids with NO bruises, because their parents weren't letting them try new things and explore. I try to remember that even now that he's 16!
  26. Cori Benson says:
Poor Ms.M Ouch!!! All 3 of your kids are adorable!!
  27. Christy says:
I love your pictures ... especially the one of the twins! too cute! That's a pretty fun post for having nothing to write about ;-)
  28. You've got a couple of regular little warriors there! I know bruises on babies look worse than they are...but, ouch! That hurts to look at it! Hope ALL is well!!!
  29. That photo makes me really want twins.
  30. Megan (Best of Fates) says:
I was all on board with those berries until we got to the peeing part.

    Now I'm hesitant.
  31. Kristi {at} Live and Love...Out Loud says:
How funny! I have a kid that constantly pees outside, except mine is my 7-year old daughter. For some crazy reason, she has the urge to pee every 20 minutes when she swims. It's a bit annoying. lol Your kids are so cute Natalie. Hope your little one's bruise heals quickly.
Thanks for stopping by my place. Have a great week.

  33. Well look at you...even when you didn't have anything to say..you managed to pump out a lovely post!!

    Your kids are just adorable!!
  34. You don't even notice the bruise with those gorgeous eyes, but don't tell Tater.
  35. That was a funny post for not having anything to say!! And those bruises just tell people that she has siblings. Ha!
  36. If SHE can figure it out.......... says:
I'm trying to play catch up on my bloggy friends - I miss so much when I work 60 hours a week! I love the randomness of this post and the kiddos are sooooo cute!
  37. My writers block got smashed m=with a hammer and stepped on and put back together and then ran over by a trike. It is called summer! You have a lot going on...I do not know how you do it with 3 little kiddos and all these blog endeavors. I am in awe! I am totally checking out that blog.
