One of the twins, Lila, gets diaper rash all the time. She has really sensitive skin, and she just seems to be more susceptible to rashes. We’ve tried it all – diaper cream, lotion, oil, and baby powder. For us, baby powder seems to work best to keep rashes away, and we go through a lot of it.
But let’s face it, baby powder is messy. Sure, it smells good but it gets everywhere. And if the babies get ahold of it and I forget to close the top of it? Well, I don’t even need to tell you about the mess just one small container of that stuff can make.
So when Baby Magic asked if I’d like to review their Baby Magic Patty Cake, I said yes immediately. Patty Cake is a dustless baby powder…you heard me right! It’s dustless! Mess free! Easy to tote around in your purse or baby bag! And it comes in a cute little compact!
So what is Patty Cake? It’s dust free, talc free pressed baby powder. It’s hypo-allergenic and contains rice starch and Lauryl L-lysine which works to keep your baby’s skin dry. It also contains zinc oxide, jojoba esters, and lubricating squalene. All of these work together to help prevent diaper rash and repel moisture.
It comes in a compact, similar to the compact you use for your face powder. It opens up on the top which is where the powder is, and the bottom opens up to hold the cotton applicator pads.
And Patty Cake works just as well as traditional baby powder, without the mess. I’ll admit that at first, it was weird using the little cotton applicator pads to put it on Lila’s bum because you can’t see it and so you’re not sure if it’s being applied! But overall I think this product works really well and I will continue to use it. Lila’s skin stays dry and soft, and since I’ve been using it the last couple of weeks we haven’t seen any diaper rash.
