Wine Review: Riondo Amarone

wine_review_riondo_amarone Have you ever drank a wine that made you think that it was so good you never wanted to drink any other wine ever again? Yeah, me neither. But if one wine ever came close, it would be Riondo Amarone DOC. Here’s a wine review of one of my new favorite wines.

Wine Review: Riondo Amarone

Now you may not have heard of Amarone before, so I’ll tell you a bit about it. It’s full name is Amarone della Valpolicella, and it’s a rich Italian dry red wine made grapes of the Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara varieties. In short, it’s a blend of many different grapes.

Interestingly, the name Amarone translates to “the Great Bitter” in Italian. This doesn’t mean it’s actually bitter; this was how it was distinguished from the Recioto produced in the same region, which is sweeter in taste.

Now on to the actual wine review. As I  mentioned, I kind of love this wine. I love my wines big and bold, and this one delivers. It smells beautifully; of berries and spices and currants.

It’s full-bodied and leaves a really long finish. So long that I could savor it after just a sip. It’s clean and silky – while I mentioned it’s bold, it doesn’t have a lot of tannins (Not sure what tannins are? Check out my What are Tannins? post for a thorough description).

It’s fruity and spicy and heavenly. This Amarone gets two thumbs up from me, and I highly recommend you try it yourself!

Head over to Wine Chateau to purchase a bottle of Riondo Amarone. If you have tried it, you can add a wine review of your own. And you are in luck! It’s regularly priced at $32.98 a bottle, however it’s on sale right now for $19.97!

You get free shipping if you buy a case of wine from them, and you can mix and match. So make sure to check out all of the great wines they offer. I also did a wine review of Schild Estate’s Shiraz Barossa and you can purchase that wine at Wine Chateau as well. Join their mailing list and you will get $10 off of shipping if you don’t order a case.

Are you a fan of big, bold red wines? What is your favorite?

Disclosure: Thanks to the Wine Chateau for providing me with a bottle of this fantastic wine. All opinions expressed are my own.

Dove Body Wash Delivers Softer, Smoother, Moisturized Skin

Dove_Mom We all have brands that we know and love; brands that we have used since we were kids that our kids are now using. Brands we are completely loyal to. For me, one of those brands is Dove.

I was recently selected to be a Dove Mom Ambassador, and I am very excited to help Dove spread the word about the new Dove NutriumMoisture body washes. I use the Gentle Exfoliating body wash now, and can’t wait to try the Winter Care body wash.

Why am I so loyal to Dove? The products work. They are also moderately priced and deliver high-end results.

Winter Care Body Wash With NutriumMoisture® I’ve always loved the scent and feel of Dove’s body washes. Dove’s new formula is one of the mildest on the market. The new body wash combines the mildest cleansers with NutriumMoisture. It contains 100% natural moisturizers that skin can absorb, keeping your skin smooth and nourished. This makes my dry skin happy – now I’ll be moisturizing in the shower before I jump out and slather on lotion!

Though the new Dove Body Washes are mild, they still provide a rich lather that you don’t typically see in mild body washes. These washes contain a Glycinate ingredient that is typically found in high-end body washes. This ingredient reduces damage to proteins during cleansing and also creates a soap-comparable lather that rinses cleanly.

Why I mention the lather is because I’m also allowing the kids to use this wash. For them, if it doesn’t lather like bubbles in the bath, they use WAY too much of it. Because Dove lathers so well, I little bit goes a long way, so they aren’t wasting it.

I love that Dove is a product that the entire family can use. I don’t have to buy separate products for my dry skin, Lila’s sensitive skin, or Jason’s oily skin; one product covers it all. If you haven’t tried out Dove’s body washes and bar soaps yet, I encourage you to.

Now head over and visit the Dove Facebook Page to learn more about Dove, its products, find the right Dove products for you, and to even get savings coupons.

I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Dove and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Have You Checked Out The Official LEGO® Channel?

One thing I remember doing when I was a kid, whether I was playing with my friends or my cousins, is playing LEGOs®. We would dump them all out across the floor, and let our imaginations go.

We built cities, spaceships, vehicles, boats, and islands. We combed through the pieces looking for the little people to man the cars and to shop in the cities. We would sit with our LEGO® wonderlands for hours.

ninjagoRight now, Ethan is smitten with all things LEGO® Ninjago. The cartoon, the characters, playing with his friends and pretending to be part of that world. He is saving his money right now to buy a LEGO® Ninjago set of his very own.

Ethan is also a huge fan of the YouTube LEGO® Ninjago videos. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t let him just flip on YouTube whenever he wants to find whatever he wants on there. I found out the hard way that just because it looks kid friendly, doesn’t mean it is. At all.

the_official_lego_channelBut when he found some Ninjago videos, he was so excited. I was learly to let him watch them until I  found The Official LEGO® Channel on You Tube, then I was excited!

I know that when I let Ethan watch The LEGO® channel that he is watching kid-friendly, parent approved videos that I can be comfortable letting him see. There are over 500 videos for him to choose from and they continue to add more daily. And I can trust they are appropriate for him since they are all backed with the LEGO® name.

And of course kids always find favorites that they want to watch over and over again. So I created a LEGO® playlist for Ethan to watch from videos on The Official LEGO® Channel. I thought it would be full of LEGO® Ninjago videos, but he was excited to add some LEGO® Starwars™ and LEGO® DC Universe™ Super Heroes videos as well. His new favorite videos to watch are the LEGO® The Hobbit videos.

Sounds great, right? Well you can create your own LEGO® playlist for your children!

It’s easy, just go to The Official LEGO® Channel and scroll through the selection of videos like some of the ones I mentioned or many more.

When you and your child find one you want to save, you just click on “Video Options” towards the bottom right of the video, and select “Add to Playlist”. You will sign in using your YouTube log in, then add your selected video to an existing playlist or create a new one.

Simple! You can also prevent non-LEGO® videos from being recommended, only add Official LEGO® Channel videos to your playlist.

The best part is that anytime you have a computer (or iPad or smartphone), you can access the playlist and keep your kids entertained! Now it’s time for you to check it out.

There is a lot of content on web; creating a playlist on the Official LEGO® Channel is a great way to ensure your kids are entertained and watching videos you can feel good about.

Visit the Official LEGO® Channel to build your own playlist to watch with your kids and then reply below for a chance to win one (1) $1,000 gift card to buy your family’s favorite LEGO® products!
