The Dons tried to spice things up last week with our first PHRASE of the week, and something a little less “intellectual” in tone.
However, to have the strongest and most fierce mafia around, we need our men to be ready for anything. So expect more surprises like this in the future.
We also have been working on our internal family structure.
Many hours of deliberation have been spent in the reference section of the Guido Library, and this is the result…
Alyson from Common Sense, Dancing has been promoted to HIT MAN with her stellar entry, proposed alternative spelling and recruitment of a new ASSOCIATE.
Made Men – you are all ENFORCERS, with the exception of Surferwife, who has been demoted to SOLDIER after her desperate attempts to garner our attention. Respect from the Dons must be earned.
Rhonda is a good example of that, Surferwife. Her Everyone Poops post caught the attention of the Dons and her hardwork has been duly noted.
All men who have participated in at least 1 round of Word Up, YO! are considered ASSOCIATES, with the Men in Waiting comprised of all those who are too wimpy or who lack the wordsmith skills to throw their crowbar into the mix.
This week, we are making 2 more men.
Congratulations to The Flying Chalupa and Amanda from It’s Blogworthy!!
In the eyes of the Nerd Mafia, you are now Made Men.
Please contact one of the Dons to received your code for the official Nerd Mafia button.
Good luck to all! Any maybe next week, you’ll be “made”, too!

Great word… I'll submit my entry on time this week!
I keep thinking I'm going to enter one of these, but I'm always too late. I think the Nerd Mafia scare me.
THANK YOU, DONS! I'm so excited – even if I did use illness and my birthday to achieve this coveted award.
Demoted huh?
Did you hear that noise?
It's the sound of me locking this into my memory.
I know people in high places.
Watch yo backs.
Congrats to the promoted? Uh, the promotees? Well, congrats. Doesn't the family need an Italian name?? Like Gambino and Colombo? What's Italian for nerd?
