You know you’re a mom when…
You get good at picking up things with your toes because it’s much easier then bending over
Your favorite times of the day are nap time and bed time
You will get up earlier or stay up later than you know you should just to get a half hour or hour of peace and quiet to yourself
You realize that your life will never, ever be the same as it was “before kids”, and mourn over your loss and all the things you took for granted (like sleeping and peeing alone…not at the same time of course!)…even though you know your life is better now
You realize that a vacation with kids is really NOT a vacation at all
Ms. M definitely did not enjoy boating as much as we had hoped!
You love that your little boy picks you beautiful purple flowers…even if it is the Society Garlic and it stinks up not only the kitchen, but his little hands too!
You have mommy aches like back pain and neck pain from holding the baby(ies) all day long
I also participated in Wordless/Wordful Wednesday…with pictures from our vacation from hell! Check out the pictures here!
And so it goes…

Oh boy – it's 11:30 here and everyone is asleep, except me! Have to catch up on the blogging sometime, right? I also pick up things with my toes all the time, too…guess I'm a mommy!
Ah, peace and quiet…I must have been a mom too!
Always pick things up with my toes. I did it tonight at my friend's house to pick up H's lovey and she was like, what the heck??
Haha!! The toe thing! I've got that down to a science!! I love it when you do these posts, they all ring so true for me!
Great list today! After each one I read I thought, "Yes! Exactly!" Thanks for making me laugh!
I love this list!!!! Good to know I'm not the only mom who looks forward to kids' bedtime!
Yep, nodding to each and every one!
You are so good at these, it's almost as if you are a mom. Haha. Love the garlic one. Funny.
That is so funny about picking things up with your toes! I really love when I can get some rest. Hmmmm! When is that? He, he, he. You have an award waiting for you! You deserve it! Have a great night!
Mama Hen
Don't forget being bored!!! I miss sitting on my couch, watching TV, bored as hell.
Now there's to much to do!
I do the toes, too. My kids look at me weird when I do.
You nailed it with the you know your a mom when stuff, all of it is so true. I was just looking at my honeymoon pictures I am going to post for Way Back Wednesday and was missing the days when we just laid on the beach and did nothing for hours!
Those early starts are great for getting some blogging time – there's got to be an advantage somewhere! I have the mummy aches too but then I don't feel quite right without a baby shaped object attached to my hip!
Oh that all sounds way too familiar! Don't remember the last time I got to pee by myself. Ah, I'm so selfish….I just wish for a solitary bathroom trip.
Hangin in there with ya!
My favorite point was the one about a vacation not really being a vacation anymore. It's sad but true – we only go on trips now. I'm your newest follower!
Hahaha yeah I totally miss peeing alone! Staying late and getting up earlier seems to comes naturally too
I totally do that, too! I'll sacrifice some sleep if it means ME time!
giggling at that picture. i have a few of my own like that.
I always pick things up with things with my toes…but I always did that because I'm lazy.
I'm pretty sure my hip is developing a bruise from constantly plopping Alex on there all the time.
I think every single one of these is EXACTLY me!! Great post!!
I'm become an expert at picking up things with my toes!
Love it!
I thought I'd also add:
* you pick your kids noses without even flinching
* you worry about regular bowel movements (of your children of course) than you ever thought you would
* your ability to multi-task becomes a super hero power
Ah – the joys!
I'm still pretty good with the picking things up with the toes.
It's a skill that never leaves you.
I practically start panting and salivating 20 minutes from bedtime. Naps end too soon, but bedtime? Oh be still my heart!
I pick things up with my toes, too! It helps that they curl under, and my kid say they could be used to power a Flinstone's type car…
Garlic flowers….so cute and funny!
So crazy!! I thought this exactly this morning while I was getting the kids breakfast and thinking of our upcoming trip to San Diego…"You Know You're a Mom When, vacation actually means more work for mom!"
I always stay up later then I should just to get some quiet blogging time in or to relax on the couch with the Hubs.
Oh Natalie, I couldn't agree with you more. This is why I stay up til 3am every night. This is a great list!
I'm soooo sorry but I just LOVE that picture! It speaks volumes. It really is adorable, what an angry little face!
i'd add to taking for granted talking uninterrupted on the phone between the hours of 7am-7pm. {sigh} I talk to my friends once a month. But we start attempting to connect within three days of our last conversations.
Even though it is hard, you are so very blessed to be able to do this. I wish I could.
SOOOO true! I love it!
I was so sad to see nap time go. Now i stay up way too late trying to accomplish everything and have some time alone.
Life before babes seems so long ago. And, sadly, it wasn't that long ago. Sometimes I feel guilty for "mourning" those lazy days….thanks for helping me feel like I'm not alone!
Ug, I ALWAYS stay up later than I should (when can a girl blog, after all?) and I ALWAYS pay for it. Still haven't mastered the getting up earlier part. But maybe that's because my son gets up at 5:30am.
Good times!
I'm the queen of picking up things with my toes. In fact, I bet I could paint a picture with my toes!! Although, I've always done it. When I first met D-man he was in awe, as he should be!! ha ha
I loved looking at the pictures of your nightmare vacation too. Looks like there were quite a few happy moments tucked in there too!!
I enjoy these "you know you're a mom…" they'e something we all can relate to, which feels nice…
I think you hit every one of those dead on. My husband just raises his eyebrow at me when I pick things up with my feet. It really is a necessary mom skill!
Haha! I love this!!!
I have an award for you
Awww . . . look @ Ms. M. I can't imagine the aches you get from carrying the girls all the time. I checked out the pics from the Proof post. They looked great. I really like the family pic. Too bad the twins weren't in it.
great post!!! so true too!! How old are your twins? mine are almost two!plz stop by
I could not have said it more perfectly!
Great list but my favorite? The picking up things with your toys. That is CLASSIC.
Those are so true!
The getting up earlier…how completely true!
Awwww, such a cutie even with those tears.
I just started reading your blog and I really like it. This post especially made me chuckle!
Yes, this is so me. I think I do all of that.
Just visiting from Literal Mom. Gonna read some more.
